The Boston College women's soccer team announced the 2009 schedule. This season, the Eagles will play 12 home games, including the reigning national champion North Carolina Tar Heels in October, at the Newton Soccer Field Complex. The 2009 season has the Eagles pitted against 11 teams which competed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles will open the season on Friday, August 28 under the lights at the Newton Soccer Field against Fairfield (7 p.m.). In non-conference action, the Eagles will also host in-state rivals Boston University and Harvard and Holy Cross, all in September. The Eagles will host two first-time opponents, Marist and Long Beach State in September.
Boston College will also host Central Connecticut State for the third time in less than a year on Sunday, Sept. 20 (1 p.m.). The Eagles and Blue Devils played once during the regular season with BC earning a 1-0 victory. The second match took place on Nov. 14 in the second round of the NCAA tournament and BC came away with a 3-0 victory.
In ACC play, the Eagles will host the Tar Heels on Thursday, October 1 (7 p.m.). The following Sunday, October 4, the Eagles will host NC State. Another big ACC match against Virginia will take place on Sunday, October 11 (1 p.m.).
The Eagles will travel to three conference teams - Maryland, Virginia Tech and Clemson - before returning for the final two home games of the regular season. The Eagles will host Duke on Thursday, October 29 (7 p.m.). BC will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, Nov. 1 when the Eagles host Wake Forest at 1 p.m.
