Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's lacrosse team is teaming up with B-line rival Boston University to fight breast cancer. The two teams will face off on Wednesday April 8 at 4:00pm on the Newton Campus lacrosse field at Boston College.
Wednesday's game sponsored by the Under Armour "Power in Pink" campaign will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund and honor the memory of Joanne Fitzpatrick, mother of Eagles' senior tri-captain Lauren Fitzpatrick, who passed away last fall from breast cancer.
"Wednesday will be a special day for our teams, the BC community, and the Fitzpatrick family," said Head Coach Bowen Holden. "Mrs. Fitzpatrick brought so much happiness to all of us, and she is sorely missed. The BC/BU rivalry is one she always enjoyed, and we are grateful to the Terriers for their desire to help raise awareness and honor Mrs. Fitzpatrick in this way."
BC will be wearing pink uniforms by Under Armour, and the rival Terriers will be using specially designed pink shafts provided by Brine.
In addition to the teams' on-field pink display, a commemorative t-shirt is available to the public, both at the game or by contacting BC assistant coach CJ Yanofsky at 617-552-0481 or yanofskc@bc.edu. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts, as well as donations made at the game, will go directly to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund in memory of Joanne Fitzpatrick.
Both teams ask that fans wear pink in support of the game on Wednesday as they cheer on the Eagles and Terriers in the fight against breast cancer.
The game will be broadcast online through ACC Select. For more information click HERE.
