Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's soccer team finished up the spring season undefeated as the Eagles notched a 1-0 victory over Harvard in Lancaster, Mass. The Eagles only goal came off the foot of sophomore Amy Caldwell. The BC forward has had a terrific spring season as she was the leading scorer for the team. The team did not yield a goal and outscored the five opponents this spring, 12-0. It is the first time Boston College went undefeated in the offseason.
The Eagles also celebrated the 2008 season at the break up banquet last week. Freshman Julia Bouchelle was named the offensive MVP, while Caroline Walden earned the defensive MVP. The Rookie of the Year was goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni, while Walden picked up overall team MVP. Senior midfielder Caitlin Hiler picked up the 2008 Coaches Award. The captains for the 2009 season were also announced as midfielder Kelly Henderson and forward/midfielder Gina DiMartino will take over the reigns.
The Eagles graduate five seniors - Caitlin Hiler, Sarah Buonomo, Brianna Wilson-Byrne, Kerri McNicholas and Caroline Walden. Three were starters as BC will have to replace two defenders in Walden and Wilson-Byrne and one midfielder in place of Hiler. The Eagles return in 2009 with eight starters and have three incoming freshman.
