Women's Soccer Shines in Spring Scrimmage

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's soccer team recorded a 4-0 victory over Connecticut on Saturday afternoon in a Spring scrimmage at the Newton Soccer Complex. The Eagles and Huskies played three 30 minute halves of soccer.
The two teams seemed to feel each other out in the first 30 minutes of play as the half ended at 0-0. The Eagles offense broke loose in the second 30 minutes as Caldwell scored both her goals, followed by a goal by Brooke Knowlton. Hannah Cerrone and Gina DiMartino each notched an assist.
Boston College scored the lone goal in the third stanza off the foot of Alaina Beyar.
Solid play by the Eagles back line of Alaina Bayer, Alyssa Pember, Melissa Gimpel and Kelly Henderson allowed only two shots by UConn in the final 30 minutes of play. The Eagles playined without a number of key players, received solid contributions from Caldwell, Knowlton, Marissa Mello, Natalie Crutchfield, Stephanie Wirth and Cerrone.
The goalkeeping duties were split between freshman Jillian Mastroianni and junior Mae Shamir.
Boston College will host Fairfield next Saturday (March 28) at 2 p.m.
