Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball team is headed to the WNIT Tournament for the second time in two seasons. The Eagles, who went 7-7 in the ACC and 20-11 overall, will play the winner of Thursday's first-round game between Boston University/Central Connecticut. The second round game will be played Monday, March 23 at Conte Forum (7 p.m.).
Boston College last played Boston University in 2005, with the Eagles capturing a 66-49. The Terriers lead the series, 8-6. The last time BU defeated Boston College was on Jan. 31, 1990 in a 68-64 victory.
BC is 1-6 against Central Connecticut. The Eagles last played Central Connecticut on November 24, 2006, when BC came away with a 67-57.
If Boston College defeats BU/Central Connecticut, the Eagles will play the winner of Hartford and the winner of Harvard/St. John's.
The first round games will run from Wed., March 18- Friday, March 20. The second round action will run from March 21-23.
Last season, Boston College received a bye and defeated Vermont, 76-64, in a second round game at Conte Forum. BC lost to St. John's in the third round, 65-54.
