The Boston College women's ski team visited Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH this past weekend for the MIT Carnival. The conditions for the giant slalom were made difficult by sixteen inches of fresh snow.
The Eagles were led by senior Ashley La Cavalla in eighth, senior captain Courtney Willson in 11th, and junior Perrie Finsand in 15th. Despite the strong finishes by these upperclassmen, the team finished fifth behind a tightly packed field. Sophomore Erica Reilly in 17th, freshman Laura Martini in 18th, and sophomore Danielle Keogh rounded out the Top 30.
On Sunday, the Eagles moved south to Pat's Peak for the UMass Slalom, where they placed in third. Slightly warmer temperatures left rough tracks for the first five racers. Regardless, the team skied strong, placing seven skiers in the Top 30. Courntey Willson led the team with a season best fifth place finish. Martini in 10th, Finsand in 12th, La Cavalla in 13th, and Reilly in 15th all scored in the Top 15. Keogh , who placed 19th, and sophomore Molly Testwuide , who placed 26th, rounded out the Top 30. The Eagles dropped to third place overall after the weekend, trailing Plymouth State by two points and leading Brown by seven.
