Men's Fencing Wins New England Fencing Championships

The men's fencing team won the 2009 New England Championships, compiling 85 individual victories over a grueling 13 rounds of competition. Boston College topped MIT and Haverford college to take home the team victory. The sabre squad led the way, going 35 - 1 and earning the coveted Vitale Cup for best weapon squad record. All three members of the sabre squad qualified for the individual round. Freshman Peter Souders won the individual event, while junior Malcolm Conley finished third. In the individual epee, junior John Choi won the silver. Sophomore Sjur Hoftun finished just out of the medals at fourth place in the individual foil.
