Women's Soccer Adds Three New Faces

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College women's soccer head coach Alison Kulik announced the addition of three players for the 2009 season. The program has received commitments from the Victoria DiMartino of Massapequa, New York, Kristen Mewis from Hanson, Mass., and Madelyn Payne from Menlo Park, California.
The student-athletes:
Victoria DiMartino - Massapequa, NY - Albertson Fury - 5-foot-7 - Forward
DiMartino is the younger sister of current BC forward Gina DiMartino. Like her sister, Victoria has a knack for scoring goals. She won the Silver Boot as she scored five goals at the Under-17 World Cup, in which the US earned a silver medal. DiMartino attended US U-17 National Camp, March -June of 2008 in preparation for the World Cup. Prior to that she was an NSCAA Youth All-American in 2007 and was a member of the Under-16 team which played in Brazil in December 2008. In three seasons at Massapequa High, DiMartino had 52 goals and 27 assists.
Kristen Mewis - Hanson, Mass. - Scorpion Soccer Club - 5-foot-8 - Midfielder/Forward
Mewis was a member of the 2008 Under-17 Women's World Cup team which finished second in the tournament. She earned the Bronze Ball at the competition. She attended national team camp, March -June 2008 in preparation for the U-17 World Cup. Mewis was named the 2008 NSCAA Youth Player of the Year and the 2008 US Soccer Young Female Athlete of the Year. Though she missed most of her senior season due to her commitment to the Under-17 Women's National Team in 2008, Mewis finished her high school career with 74 goals and 34 assists. She is a three-time NSCAA All-American, three time All-New England and All-Massachusetts team honoree and a three time Eastern Mass. Girls Soccer Association Div. 1 First-Team All-Star. Mewis was involved in Region 1 ODP from 2003-2007.
Madelyn Payne - Menlo Park, Calif. - Pleasanton Rage - 5-foot-3 - Forward
Payne, a member the Region IV Pool, played in the Region IV ODP Championships. She was recently named to the 2009 ESPN RISE Winter Soccer All-America first team. Payne played at St. Francis High for Dawn Hill and was the team co-captain as a senior. She led the team in scoring with 20 goals, including six multi-goal matches. Payne led the team in scoring as a junior and senior and was a San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year. She was also a Mercury News All-Central Coast All-Star. Payne was a second-team selection as a sophomore. Payne was a member of the 2007 and 2008 SYSA-North District II State Team. She also plays for the Pleasanton Rage Soccer Club.
