The Boston College women's ice hockey team grabbed a 2-1 win against archrival Boston University on Monday night at the Walter Brown Arena in Boston, Mass.
The Eagles are now 2-2-4 on the year while the Terriers are 3-2-4.
The two teams were held scoreless in the first period thanks to solid play from freshman goalie Corinne Boyles for the Eagles and senior Melissa Haber for the Terriers.
Senior Allie Thunstrom got the scoring started midway through the second period with her team leading sixth goal of the year off an assist from sophomore line-mate, Mary Restuccia. The Eagles' good fortunes were short lived however, as the Terriers responded less than a minute later to tie the score at one apiece.
Early in the third period, the Eagles would take the lead for good when freshman Ashley Motherwell notched her first goal of the year for the Eagles with Thunstrom assisting on the play. The Boston College defense finished the game strong and held BU scoreless in the final frame to give the Eagles their second win of the year.
Freshman goalie Corinne Boyles made 27 saves in the victory for the BC.
The Eagles will return to Kelley Rink this Friday, November 6, where they will take on Vermont at 7:00 p.m.
