Women's Soccer To Host Wisconsin In Sweet 16

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's soccer team advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 2-0 win over Connecticut on Sunday, Nov. 15. It is the fifth time in six years that Boston College advanced to the Sweet 16.
The Eagles (17-3-2) will play host to Big 10 opponent - Wisconsin on Friday, Nov. 20 at the Newton Soccer Field. Wisconsin (10-5-6) defeated the Pac-10's Arizona State in the first round game on penalty kicks (6-5). In the second round game, the Badgers earned a 1-0 victory over the third-seeded UCF (17-5-2). The winner of tonight's game will play the winner of No. 1 seeded Stanford Cardinal (22-0) vs. Santa Clara (14-6-2) in the quarterfinal.
BC VS. WISCONSIN
Boston College and Wisconsin have played once. On September 12, 2004, BC lost to the Badgers, 5-3, on the road. Despite outshooting Wisconsin, 21-17 in the game, BC went down 3-1 in the first half. Maddie Johnson, Kate McGregor and Lania Ceddia scored for the Eagles.
Wisconsin (5-1-4) finished third in the Big 10 regular season standings behind Ohio State (7-2-1) and regular season and Big 10 Champion Penn State (8-1-1). The Badgers are the only Big 10 team remaining in the tournament. Penn State lost to Virginia, 6-2 on Sunday, while Ohio State lost to Oregon State in a first round match.
THE ACC
A league-record seven Atlantic Coast Conference women's soccer teams are among the Final 16 of the 2009 NCAA Division I Championship field after all posted second-round wins on Sunday.
Five nationally-seeded ACC teams - No. 1 North Carolina, No. 1 Florida State, No. 2 Boston College, No. 3 Wake Forest and No. 4 Maryland scored home-field wins, while No. 3 Virginia Tech and unseeded Virginia won on the road. The seven wins by the ACC teams came by a combined margin of 22-3.
UNC, Florida State and Boston College are now set to host third-round games on Friday and Saturday.

Tickets for the Friday night game vs. Wisconsin can be purchased at the door. Tickets can also be purchased prior to the games at the Newton Soccer Field. Admission for both Friday and Sunday games will be $4 for students/youths and $8 for general admission.
