Men's Fencing Opens Season at NEIFC/NEWIFA Fall Invitational

Boston College men's fencing kicked off the 2009-10 season at the NEIFC/NEWIFA Fall Invitational at Smith College this past weekend.
Sophomore Peter Souders won the men's sabre event at the New England Fall Invitational for the second year in a row, coming back from an 8-2 deficit against two-time NCAA qualifier Andrew Fischl to win the gold medal bout 15-14.
The day's most exciting result was sophomore Brian Like's third place finish in men's epee. Brian upset teammate John Choi and Brandeis fencer Alex Powell on his way to the bronze medal.
Also finishing in the final eight of his event, men's epee, was freshman Albert Starshak .
This event once again posted a milestone in participation with over 400 fencers representing 23 schools, including a large contingent visiting from the University of Florida.
