Women's Basketball Picked Sixth in ACC Media Preseason Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Boston College women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth among the league's 12 schools in the 2009-10 ACC Women's Basketball Preseason Media Poll.
The Blue Ribbon Panel that conducted the poll was made up of a contingent of national and local media, as well as numerous school representatives.
North Carolina was picked to finish first for the second year in a row with 30 first-place votes. Following North Carolina was Duke with 10 first-place votes. Last year's co-regular season champion Florida State was selected to finish in third place with two first-place votes. Virginia was picked fourth, and Maryland who received three first-place votes, rounded out the top five.
Virginia's senior guard Monica Wright was tabbed at the ACC Preseason Player of the Year, while North Carolina freshman guard Tierra Ruffin-Pratt was selected as the ACC Preseason Rookie of the Year.
Boston College was represented at the media day by head coach Sylvia Crawley and junior center Carolyn Swords.
Swords finished last season sixth in the ACC in scoring averaging 15.4 points per game, and second in the conference in rebounding with nine boards a game.
The Eagles will start their 2009-10 season on the road as they will take on Harvard on Saturday, November 14.
