CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 10 Boston College field hockey team will host No. 13 Duke University on Saturday, October 3 at 11 a.m., at the Newton Field Hockey Field on the Newton campus. The Eagles are currently 7-2 overall and 0-2 in the ACC, while the Blue Devils are 5-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the 11th meeting between Boston College and Duke. Duke holds the edge in the all-time series 6-4. The Blue Devils have won the last two meetings in the series. The first meeting between these two schools occurred in 1990 when BC was still in the Big East.
KEY MATCHUP
The key matchup to watch for in Saturday's game will be Boston College goalie Kristine Stigas against Duke forward Amie Survilla. Stigas has been hot for the Eagles in her past two games only allowing three goals, while making 17 saves in that span. BC is 6-1 when they allow two goals, or less, in a game this season. Stigas will have to slow down Survilla, who is the Blue Devils leading scorer, for the Eagles to have a chance on Saturday. Survilla is coming into this game as the third leading goal scorer in the country with 14 goals on the season.
BC-DUKE GAME DAY INSTRUCTIONS
Fans are encouraged to arrive early. The gates will open at 10 a.m. (one hour before game time). Admission is free but there will be limited parking for this event due to the football game later in the afternoon.
Directions to the Newton Campus -
• From Main Campus - - Drive west on Commonwealth Avenue for approximately 2.5 miles. Upon reaching Centre Street take a right. Follow Centre Street for approximately ¾ of a mile and turn into the Main Entrance. Follow the road downhill to the reserved team parking area.
• From the Massachusetts Turnpike (Heading East) Take Exit 17. Take your first right onto Centre Street and follow for approximately 1 mile. Turn into the Main Entrance and follow down the hill to the designated parking area.
• From the Massachusetts Turnpike (Heading West) Take Exit 17. Take a left over the bridge after passing the Sheraton Tara Hotel. Take the first right onto Centre Street and follow for approximately 1 mile. Turn into the Main Entrance and follow down the hill to the designated parking area.
• From Logan Airport Follow signs to Boston and drive through the William's Tunnel (Toll) Follow signs to the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90). (Toll) Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit 17. Take a left over the bridge after passing the Sheraton Tara Hotel. Take the first right onto Centre Street and follow for approximately 1 mile. Turn into the Main Entrance and follow down the hill to the designated parking area.
