Mastroianni Earns New England Soccer News Player of the Year

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni was named New England Soccer News Player of the Year today. The freshman is one of 32 candidates for the Soccer News Network National Player of the Year Award, which will be announced next week.
A native of Durham, Conn. helped the Eagles advance to the round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Mastroianni, who went 14-6-2 as the Eagles starting keeper, was also an NSCAA All-America third-team honoree and an All-ACC second-team selection and made the ACC All-Freshman team. She was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com All-Freshmen team. Mastroianni, who had 10 shutouts this season, has a goals-against-average of 0.79.
