Carolyn Swords Named ACC Player of the Week

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College's Carolyn Swords was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference today. This is the second time this season Swords earned the weekly conference award. It is also the third time a BC player picked up the honor, as Mickel Picco was named player of the week on Dec. 1.
A sophomore, Swords led Boston College to two ACC victories this week, including an overtime victory over then-No. 22 ranked Georgia Tech (65-64).
Swords had two double-doubles last week to add to her conference leading sixth double-double of the season. She now has 11 in her career. The Sudbury, Ma. Native had 18 points and 12 rebounds vs. Georgia Tech on Thursday night on the road. She also had a season high four assists.
Against Virginia Tech on Sunday, Swords went 9-for-13 from the field, scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The Eagles pulled away in the second half behind seven straight points from Swords. She shot 64 percent from the floor and grabbed 22 rebounds for the week.
Swords is second on the team in scoring (15.1 ppg.) and leads the Eagles in rebounding (8.5 rpg.). She is tops in the conference and country in field goal percentage (68.8).
Boston College, who received votes in the AP Poll today, will travel to Winston-Salem to play Wake Forest (12-3) on Thursday, January 15..
