
Field Hockey Closes Out Weekend With 4-1 Over Vermont

Newton, Mass. - Boston College closed out its first weekend of play with a 4-1 victory of the University of Vermont.
The #13 Eagles got on the board first when senior forward Bob Dirks redirected a pass from freshman forward Courtney Tavener and slammed it past Catamount goalie Kristen Heavens to put the Eagles on the board 1-0. Vermont didn't let BC enjoy their lead for too long, putting one in the cage at 18:41 to tie the score at one.
In the final seconds of the first half, the Eagles were awarded an offensive corner which saw junior forward and team captain Chelsey Feole record her second goal of the season with what proved to be the game winning goal for BC.
Coming out of halftime with the lead, a fired-up BC went on the offensive firing nine shots at the Catamounts goalie while allowing no shots by UVM in the second half.
The Eagles tallied two more goals in the second half, one each by Dirks and Feole with sophomore forward Janna Anctil getting the assist for both.
Following this weekend's wins at home agains UMass and UVM, the Eagles take to the road with a games against Quinnipiac Friday afternoon and Holy Cross on Sunday.
