No. 14 Women's Soccer Opens 2008 Season vs. BU

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College will travel to Boston to play cross-town rival Boston University on Saturday, August 23 (7 p.m.) at Nickerson Field. It will be the first game on the Terriers newly installed FieldTurf field. The Eagles lead the all-time series against the Terriers, 8-4. Last season, BC defeated the BU, 1-0, behind a goal from Chelsea Regan.
The Eagles start the 2008 season with three road games as BC will head to California to play Oregon State and Stanford in Palo Alto (CA) after the showdown with BU (Aug. 29 vs. Oregon; Aug. 31 vs. Stanford).
Boston College enters the opener being ranked 14th by the NSCAA and 16th by Soccer America. The Eagles were also selected to finish fourth in the ACC in the preseason poll.

Boston College has been practicing on the new field at the Newton Soccer Field. BC installed new Polytan Artificial Turf over the summer and the first game will be the men's team host Boston University on August 29th (5 p.m.), while the women will open up on Friday, Sept. 5 vs. Brown University (5 p.m.) ... Junior Gina DiMartino was recently named to the Missouri Athletic Club's 2008 Hermann Trophy Watch List ... The Eagles return all four of their backs - senior Kerri McNicholas, senior Caroline Walden, senior Brianna Wilson-Bryne and sophomore Hannah Cerrone. Last year the Eagles defense allowed only 10 goals by their opponents ... BC will have eight new faces on the field this season. The Eagles welcome Alaina Beyar, Julia Bouchelle, Danielle Gordon, Jillian Mastroianni, Alyssa Pember, Marissa Mello, Stephanie Wirth and Michelle Spacciapolli to the team. The 2008 class was ranked third by Soccer Buzz in its preseason recruiting poll. It is the highest rank the Eagles program has received for an incoming class by Soccer Buzz ... Head Coach Alison Kulik needs just one win to reach 140 career victories at Boston College. She is currently 139-72-21. Kulik needs two wins to reach 145 career victories ... The game will be streamed on BU All-Access.
