Men's Outdoor Track Places Third at Stonehill Invitational

Easton, Mass. - The Boston College men's outdoor track team notched four first-place individual performances at Saturday's Stonehill outdoor track invitational, taking the third-place honor overall (135 points) and competing against 11 other squads.
Taking individual titles were senior Jeremy Zagorski in the 800 (1.56.39), juniors David Emerson in the 10,000 (31:39.54) and Ben Kocarnik in the pole vault (13' 11.25"). The men's 4x800 meter relay squad also topped out in a time of 7:49.75.
BC tallied many other top-five performances on the day. Sophomore Brendan Gaffney took second in the 400 (50.64). Freshmen Andrew MacIsaac (1:56.81) and Kristopher Haynes (1:58.53) and junior James LaGreca (1:57.33) all placed among the top-five in the 800. Junior Brendan Collins (4:01.32) and senior Jeffrey Klatsky (4:04.77) placed second and fourth in the 1500, respectively. Junior Patrick Viklund (32:36.79) and sophomore Justin Wheat (33:04.13) came in fourth and fifth in the 10,000. In the 3,000 steeplechase, junior Tim Ritchie took second (9:41.01) and senior Dan Springer took third (9:47.88). Senior Shawn Kushiyama vaulted 12' 11.50" to place fifth in the pole vault and freshman Matt Kosmas threw for 126' 1" to place fourth in the discus. The men's 4x400 relay improved their time by three seconds and placed second to wrap up the Eagles' top performances at the meet.
Tufts took the team title with 171.50 points and meet host Stonehill placed second with 140.50 points.
The Eagles will continue outdoor competition at the UMass Invitational on Saturday, April 12. Events will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Amherst, Mass.
