Women's Soccer Adds Three More Recruits

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Boston College head women's soccer coach Alison Kulik announced today the addition of Danielle Gordon, Marissa Mello and Stephanie Wirth to the already heralded 2008 recruiting class. Gordon, Mello and Wirth will enroll at BC in September of 2008, joining previously committed Eagles' recruits Alaina Beyar, Julia Bouchelle, Jillian Mastroianni, Alyssa Pember and Michelle Spacciapolli.
"Our coaching staff is extremely happy to announce the addition of three talented players to our 2008 class," said BC coach Alison Kulik.
Danielle Gordon - Rockland, MA - Rockland High - 5-foot-2 - Defense/Midfield
Played for SS Select from 2004 through 2007...Currently plays for the Under-18 Boston Bolts...Was a member of the Region 1 team which traveled to Brazil in March 2008...A member of the Mass. Olympic Development program in 2007-08...Two-time All-State honoree...Two-time Eastern Mass. All-Star...A member of the Bay State Select team in the WPSL from 2005-07.
"Danielle is a really well-rounded soccer player which will allow her to play in a lot of different spots for us. She has very good vision and is able to play-make as well as defend and score goals,'' said Kulik.
Marissa Mello - Somerset, MA - Somerset High - 5-foot-3 - Midfield
A member of the Mass Olympic Development program in 2004, 2005, and 2007...Helped the Scorpions reach the state finals in 2006 and 2007...Scored 48 career goals and finished with 60 career points ... Holds the school record for most goals in a single season with 15...Named to the Eastern Mass All-Star team as a senior...Earned Eastern Athletic Conference All-Star honors four consecutive years.
"Marissa's passion for soccer is accompanied with a passion for BC as a long family legacy supersedes her. She is very hard-working and will add to the talent in our midfield,'' said Kulik.
Stephanie Wirth - Denville, NJ - Morris Knolls High - 5-foot-5 - Forward
Member of the Under-17 PDA team which advanced to the NJ State Cup final in 2007...In the Spring of 2007, her PDA team advanced to the Region 1 Premier League Final...With the Under-16 PDA team, advanced to the USYS Region 1 semi-final...Member of the Region 1 Premier League Champion and NJ State Cup Champion in 2006...Was a member of the Under-15 Super Y Pool...A first-team All-County and All-Conference selections...First Group 4 All-County...High honor student.
"Steph's acceleration and determination to goal should propose a lot of problems for the opposing teams' defense,'' said Kulik. "Her PDA club training should give her excellent preparation for her transition to play at the college level.''
