BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team was edged by cross-town rival Boston University, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match. The win ups the Terriers' record to 7-7 overall, while the Eagles are now 9-10 on the season.
BC captured two-of-three doubles matches against the Terriers. The No. 60 ranked doubles team of Dasha Cherkasov and Lauren Cash defeated Francine Whu and Vanessa Steiner, 8-3 in the No. 1 singles match. Gia Nafarrete and Lana Krasnopolsky downed Yana Sadovskaya and Elizabeth Corrao in the No. 3 doubles match, 9-8.
In singles play, Cherkasov and Cash each earned points. Cherkasov won at the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-0 against Sadovskaya. Cash defeated Vanessa Steiner 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 position in singles action.
The Eagles travel to Atlanta, Ga., to play ACC foe Georgia Tech on Saturday at noon.
