Monaghan Earns Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week Honors

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College junior Katie Monaghan earned Inside Lacrosse Magazine's Player of the Week accolades, as well as Co-Player of the Week honors by womenslax.com.
The goalie from Sherwood Forest, Md., put up a season-high 13 saves and only allowed four goals in the Eagles' 5-4 double overtime win against seventh-ranked North Carolina on Saturday. The Heels average 11.82 goals per game and outshot the Eagles, 26-12.
With the game knotted 4-4 and eight seconds to play, UNC was awarded a free position shot. Not only did Monaghan make the initial save, but came up with two more stops on rebounds before time expired to send the game into overtime.
Monaghan's play propelled BC to a 2-1 ACC record, marking the first time the Eagles (3-6) have registered at least two wins in league play since joining the ACC in 2006. The victory also marked the first time Boston College has beaten a top-10 team. The Eagles tallied their first win over the lacrosse powerhouse to make the all-time series record 1-3.
Monaghan has played in all nine games for the Eagles this season and Monaghan has played in all nine games for the Eagles this season and compiled a 12.53 goals-against average. She has made 55 saves and registered a .401 save percentage. In her career, she has played in 42 games and made 320 saves, which ranks fourth in the BC record book. She holds a .438 career save percentage and a 12.52 all-time GAA.
