Seven Field Hockey Players Named to All-ACC Academic Squad

Greensboro, N.C. - Seven Boston College field hockey players were named to the All-ACC Academic Squad for the 2007 season, the league announced Monday. Graduate students Brenna Leahy and Tara Fernandes, senior Caitlin Young, juniors Julia Berkowitz, Bob Dirks and Kelley Smith and sophomore Chelsey Feole were named to the 30-player roster.
In order to be eligible for the academic award, student-athletes must earn a 3.00 GPA for the semester and maintain a 3.00 cumulative average during the academic year.
Boston College and Maryland led the way with seven players each named to the roster. Six Duke players received the honors, along with four players from North Carolina, the 2007 NCAA Champions, and Wake Forest, a Final Four participant. Virginia added two student-athletes to the list.
Dirks and Berkowitz were honored with All-American and All-ACC status for their play in 2007. They, along with Feole, were also All-Northeast Regional honorees. Young participated in the NFHCA Senior All-Star game which took place during the Final Four weekend in College Park, Md.
