The Boston College women's basketball team returns home to Conte Forum after a three game road trip. The Eagles will host the New Hampshire Wildcats tonight at 7 p.m.
Boston College began the three-game trip with two games at the Caribbean Challenge in Cancun, Mexico. The Eagles came away with a win over No. 22 TCU and James Madison. Eagles guard Mickel Picco averaged 22.5 points in two games and hit 16-of-19 from the foul line in two games. For her efforts, Picco was named the ACC Player of the Week on Dec. 1.
BC is coming off the only loss on the road trip as the Eagles fell to Minnesota, 80-60, in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge.
The Eagles are currently 5-2. BC will host UNH tonight and Florida International on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. The Eagles lead the head-to-head series vs. New Hampshire, 12-8, with BC winning the last five games in the series. Last season, BC defeated UNH, 77-52, behind 26 points and 11 rebounds from Stefanie Murphy.
Team Notes:
Junior Mickel Picco is leading the Eagles in scoring at 16.7 points per game, while Carolyn Swords is second at 16.6 ppg. ... Boston College is ranked eighth in the country in team assists (18.1%), 41st in scoring offense (73.4 ppg.) and 27th in field goal percentage (45.5%) ... Carolyn Swords is second in the country in field goal percentage (67.9), while Corey Rusin is 25th in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.56) ... Sophomore Veronica Wilson hit her first career three-pointer vs. Minnesota on Dec. 4 ... Three players - Mickel Picco, Carolyn Swords and Stefanie Murphy - are the only three players to have started all seven games this season.
