Gina DiMartino Returns A Champion

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College Gina DiMartino will return to campus a champion. DiMartino was a member of the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team, which captured 2008 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Santiago, Chile on Dec. 7.
DiMartino played in 18 games and had two goals and five assists for the Eagles this past season. Due to her commitment to the US team, DiMartino was not available for competition in the NCAA Tournament.
The US team opened the tournament on Nov. 19 with a 3-0 victory over France. On Nov. 22, the US defeated Argentina, 3-0. China was the only loss as the US fell, 2-0 on Nov. 26.
On Nov. 30, the team defeated England, 3-0 and followed it up with a 1-0 win over Germany on Dec. 4. The final was played on Dec. 7 and the US won 2-0.
The USA won the first-ever FIFA U-19 Women's World Cup in 2002, took third in 2004, and finished fourth at the first U-20 Women's World Cup in 2006.
