At the second annual Fencing Beanpot tournament, Boston College competed with Brandeis, Harvard and MIT on Wednesday, December 3rd at BC. The men's team had a strong performance, finishing second with a record of 2-1. They fell to Harvard 21-6, but defeated Brandeis 15-12 and MIT 14-13. A large part of the success was due to the sabre, which combined for a total of 19 wins and only 8 loses in three rounds of competition to propel the team to their second place finish. Also helping the team were freshman Peter Souders , who went undefeated finishing 9-0 and junior Malcolm Conley , who finished 6-3.
Harvard went undefeated, finishing 3-0 to take home the first place trophy in both men's and women's events.
Fencing returns to action on Sunday at Brandeis where they will face Brown, NYU, St. John's University, and Cornell.
