
Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Defeat to Florida State

The Boston College volleyball team pushed Florida State to four sets on Friday night in Power Gym, but could not overcome the Seminoles, falling 3-1. Despite holding FSU to a hitting percentage of just .189 and nearing a season high with 10 total team blocks, the Eagles could not pull out the victory.
With the loss, BC dropped to 7-19 (1-13 ACC) while the Seminoles improved to 16-8 (8-6 ACC).
The Seminoles came out firing in the first set, registering 10 kills with just one error for a hitting percentage of .375. With the set tied at 6-6, FSU went on a 19-5 run to close out the set and take an early lead.
The Eagles answered with a solid effort in the second set. Leading 18-17, BC staged a 7-0 run to win the set, capped off by a Taylor Williams kill and a Tori Thompson service ace.
BC continued to push the Seminoles in the third set, trailing 20-17 before Florida State used a 5-1 run for a 25-18 win and a 2-1 lead in sets.
In the fourth set, Florida State used two 5-0 runs to improve their lead from 11-10 to 21-12. While the Eagles rallied for six kills in the next ten points (three by Taylor Williams, two by Tori Thompson, and one by Brittany Pierpont), Florida State was able to close out the match with a 25-20 set victory.
Despite the loss, Brittany Pierpont was able to reach a career milestone, passing Karen Trine for third on BC's all-time assist list with her 2,499th career assist in the fourth set. For her career, Pierpont now has 2,507 assists.
Taylor Williams had 10 kills to lead the BC attack, and Kristen Baader registered 11 assists to lead the Eagles.
In its next match, BC will host Miami on Sunday at noon in the Power Gym.
