
Volleyball Beats Maryland, 3-1, On Senior Day

The Boston College volleyball team finished its regular season on a high note, defeating Maryland, 3-1, on Senior Day at Power Gym. After dropping the first set, the Eagles rallied for wins in three consecutive sets on the strength of their attack, which produced 59 kills against the Terrapins.
With the win, the Eagles finished the season with an 8-24 record (2-18 ACC), while Maryland dropped to 6-26 (2-18 ACC).
The Terrapins built an early lead after a 25-21 victory in the first set.
BC battled back in a competitive second set that saw 15 ties and seven lead changes. Trailing 22-21, Melanie Cimino notched two consecutive kills to give the Eagles a 23-22 lead. After the teams traded points, a Tori Thompson kill, followed by a Maryland attack error gave the Eagles a win in the set.
The Eagles held off three match points in the third set before consecutive kills by Jordan Meredith and Cimino gave BC a 29-27 victory.
BC jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the fourth set, before Maryland battled back to cut the Eagles' lead to 23-22. Brittany Pierpont ended the run with a kill, and the Eagles' converted the second match point on Maryland's serve on a kill by Taylor Williams.
Brittany Pierpont registered eight kills, a season-high 45 assists, and 11 digs for the Eagles. Melanie Cimino and Taylor Williams each had 13 kills, and Tori Thompson registered three blocks to lead BC.
Before the match, the Eagles honored seniors Brittany Pierpont and Tori Thompson in a ceremony on the court.
