
Volleyball Falls To Clemson In Three Sets

The Boston College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Clemson, the defending ACC champions, on Friday night at Power Gym. The Tigers, who entered the contest sixth in the NCAA in blocks per set, were strong on both offense and defense, registering 40 kills and nine blocks.
With the loss, BC dropped to 6-14 (0-8 ACC), while the Tigers improved to 13-5 (6-2 ACC).
The Eagles battled Clemson in the first set, trading points with the Tigers until the visitors used a 4-0 run midway through the set to take a 21-12 lead. Clemson would go on to win the set, 25-14.
BC was in striking range in the second set as well, closing to within 16-12 after consecutive kills by Jordan Meredith and Tori Thompson. But Clemson used a 9-1 run to close out the set, winning by a score of 25-13.
In a back-and-forth third set, the Eagles remained within striking distance throughout, trailing 22-19 after two consecutive kills by Tsvetelina Dureva and Mollie Kolosky, followed by a Tigers error. Clemson would rally for three of the next four points to close out the match.
Leading the way for BC was Brittany Pierpont who registered 25 assists and 14 digs. Jordan Meredith led the BC attack with nine kills and Mollie Kolosky registered three blocks on defense.
BC will next face Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm in the Power Gym.
