GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seniors Nichole Lister and Timothy Ritchie were named the ACC Performers of the Week after both turned in impressive performances at the New England Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park. Lister helped the women's side claim the team title while Ritchie finished first overall for the men.
Lister led the women as she finished in fourth with a time of 17:50. Boston College's had five scoring runners that finished in the top 12 overall as the Eagles won the New England Championship.
It is BC's first New England title since 2002. Boston College scored 38 points in the event while Brown came in second with a total of 141 points. Williams, Dartmouth, and Boston University rounded out the top five. BC's 103-point margin of victory is the largest in the event since 1997 and its team score is the best since 2000.
Ritchie crossed the finish line at Franklin Park in 24:35, one second better than UMass Lowell's Ruben Sanca, to win the individual New England Championship. His performance helped the BC men to a ninth place finish.
Ritchie and Sanca's one second differential was the closest in the event since 2005. Ritchie became the fourth individual to win the New England Championship for Boston College and the second in a row as Patrick Mellea won the race last season. John Clopeck was the New England champion in 1984 and George Lemond was BC's first champ back in 1924.
