Women's Basketball Announces Two New Recruits

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College women's basketball team received two national letters of intent - Mia Nickson and Jasmine Gill - from its 2008-2009 class of recruits, as announced by head coach Cathy Inglese. The Boston College 2008-09 recruiting class is ranked 26th by Blue Star Basketball.
"I am really excited about Mia (Nickson) and Jasmine (Gill) joining our program,'' said BC Head Coach Cathy Inglese "They both run the floor very well and will allow us to play even more up-tempo style both offensively and defensively. We expect them both to make an immediate and positive impact on the program.''
Mia Nickson, 6-2, Forward, Notre Dame Academy, Ashburn, VA
Senior forward on the No. 6 team in the country ... Earned her 1,000 points last year and is currently around 1,400 points and over 500 rebounds ... Has been nominated for the WBCA All-Star game and nominated as a McDonald's All-American ... Ranked 67th by HoopGurlz and 70th by Blue Star Basketball ... Was the tournament MVP at the Dell Curry Bojangles Shoot-out ... Named to the All-Tournament Team at the Nike Tournament of Champions .... At the Flint Hill Tip-Off Tournament, Nickson earned the MVP honors after scoring 29 points, grabbing 21 rebounds and recording 10 steals in two games ... A member of Boo Williams AAU Team ... Averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game as a junior, on a team that went 29-1 ... Named to the All-Met first-team in 2007.
"Mia is an outstanding rebounder, who can guard anyone on the floor,'' said coach Inglese. "She is a proven winner coming from one of the top high school and club programs in the nation. She will give us a new dimension at the forward spot and will mesh perfectly with our returning post players."

Is currently averaging 15.5 points and 9.7 rebounds a game ...... News and Record All-Area second-team ... All-Metro 4A All Conference ... Named Team MVP in 2006-07 season ... MVP of the Little Four Tournament in North Carolina ... Averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds a game as the team finished the season at 17-8 in 2006-07... A member of the Lady Phoenix Basketball Club.
"Jasmine is a very athletic scorer from the wing position. She can beat people off the dribble and create her own shot,'' said coach Inglese. "We are very excited about adding Jasmine's scoring punch to our perimeter game."
