CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College women's soccer team announced its 2007 schedule. This season, the Eagles will play 12 home games, including six teams which competed in the 2006 NCAA Tournament at the Newton Soccer Field Complex.
In non-conference action, the Eagles will host in-state rivals Harvard and Boston University in early September followed by a Friday night match against the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee on Sept. 14. The Eagles will also host former Big East rival Syracuse University, now led by former Penn State head coach Pat Farmer.
In ACC play, the Eagles will host Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, NC State and reigning National Champion North Carolina. Boston College will open up its ACC action with two big games in three days as the Eagles host Duke on Friday, Oct. 5 under the lights followed by a Sunday, Oct. 7 afternoon match against Wake Forest. The Tarheels will then come to town on Thursday, Oct. 18 for a 7 p.m. showdown. The Eagles will finish their ACC home schedule on Sunday, October 28 against Virginia, a team that advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles will be challenged on the road as they head to Brown on Thursday, Sept. 6. The Bears upset BC on their home turf last season, 2-1. Boston College will then travel to Clemson on Sunday, Sept. 30.
On October 11, the Eagles will travel to Coral Gables to play Miami followed by a Sunday match against Florida State, a 2006 Final Four team. Boston College's road schedule will finish up with two November matches against Maryland and Virginia Tech.
In the preseason, Boston College will play two tough teams - Connecticut and Maine. The Huskies advanced to the second round of the 2006 NCAA tournament.
