Three Boston College programs - men's tennis, men's outdoor track and softball - have earned 2007 ACC spring sportsmanship awards, the league has announced.
Teams receiving the awards have conducted themselves with a high degree of character and good sportsmanship, as determined by a vote of the league's players and coaches.
Additionally, Boston College was named the recipient of the ACC Sportsmanship School of the Year Award for the 2006-07 academic year by virtue of winning outright sportsmanship awards in eight sports - football, volleyball, women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, men's swimming and diving, men's tennis, men's outdoor track and softball.
A traveling trophy will be on display at Boston College for one year.
The conference presents sportsmanship awards for each of its 25 sponsored sports. The concept of these awards was created by the ACC Student Athlete Advisory Committee in an effort to recognize teams who earned the utmost regard from their peers during competition.
Five schools - Boston College, Clemson, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest - were recognized by their peers as the sportsmanship award winners for the league's 11 sponsored spring sports.
