Field Hockey Spring Update: Several Tournaments On Tap

Chestnut Hill, Mass.--The Boston College field hockey team has been busy training and scrimmaging this spring as it is already looking forward to the 2007 fall season. The Eagles finished 14-6 overall and 2-3 in the ACC last season, and is facing top Eastern teams this spring to prepare for next season.
The Eagles traveled to the Duke campus last weekend to play in a 7v7 tournament, and will participate in the Mercian Cup beginning this weekend alongside other top Northeast teams such as UConn, Northeastern and Albany. The Mercian Cup schedule is below:
Saturday, March 31, 10:00 a.m. vs. Northeastern; Newton, Mass.
Saturday, March 31, 1:30 p.m. vs. Albany; Newton, Mass.
Sunday, April 15, 10:00 a.m. vs. Massachusetts; Newton, Mass.
Sunday, April 22, time TBD; Mercian Cup finals at Providence, R.I.
BC will also host a three-way tournament with Northeastern and Boston University on Wednesday, April 11. The tournament will feature back-to-back exhibition games beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Also in other spring news, BC associate head coach Andrew Griffiths just arrived back from Shanghai, China with the U.S. Under 21 China Tour Team as an assistant coach. The team played a five game set with the China Under 21 and the Shanghai Club teams, going 2-2-1 on the nine-day trip, March 10-18. Four of the 16 squad members hailed from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
