CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Boston College senior center Kathrin Ress (Salorno, Italy) will be among 50 players confirmed to participate in the 2007 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp at Cleveland State University on March 30-31. Ress and the other WNBA hopefuls - comprised of players from more than 48 colleges and universities - will showcase their skills during the two-day combine.
All 13 WNBA teams will be scouting players in preparation for the 2007 WNBA Draft, which will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4 at the Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland.
Should she be drafted on that day, Ress would be the fourth Boston College player to be drafted in the WNBA. In the 2000 draft, Cal Bouchard (Aurora, Ontario) was drafted by the Detroit Shock in the fourth round as the 60th pick overall. In 2004, Amber Jacobs (Clarks Summit, PA) was drafted in the third round by the Minnesota Lynx. She is currently the starting point guard for the team. In 2006, Brooke Queenan (West Chester, PA) was drafted in the second round by the New York Liberty. She is currently a free agent.
Ress, a team captain, was a third-team All-ACC selection this past season. She led the Eagles in scoring (16.4), rebounding (8.9), field goal percentage (.492), blocked shots (23) and second on the team in assists (2.5 avg.) and minutes played (33.0). Ress notched seven double-doubles this season and has 10 in her career. She has scored in double figures in 25 games and notched double-figures in rebounding eight times and had nine rebounds in seven games. Ress finished her career as the 10th all-time leading scorer at BC with 1,300 points scored and was fourth in rebounding with 664 boards. A solid student, Ress was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 women's basketball second-team and is a three-time recipient of the Athletic's Director Award for Academic Achievement.
