Four Eagles Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

Chestnut Hill, Mass.--The ACC named 31 field hockey student-athletes on Tuesday, including four members of the Boston College field hockey team, to its All-ACC Academic Team.
Sophomores Julia Berkowitz (Amherst, Mass.) and ACC Offensive Player of the Year Bob Dirks (Malden, Netherlands) were two of the 11 all-conference performers to highlight the league's academic team. Senior Caitlin Gillen (New Preston, Conn.) and sophomore Katie Quaglia (Los Altos, Calif.) joins Berkowitz and Dirks.
Dirks, a first-team All-American, received All-ACC Academic recognition for the second consecutive year, while the other three Eagles received the honor for the first time. Thirteen student-athletes were repeat honorees.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
The Eagles finished ninth in the final NFHCA Division I Poll of 2006 and was ranked as high as fourth on October 3, the program's highest ranking ever. Boston College finished with a 14-6 overall record in head coach Ainslee Lamb's second season at The Heights. The complete 2006 All-ACC Academic Field Hockey Team:
