Cross Country To Host NCAA Northeast Region Championship

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's and women's cross country teams will play host to the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass., on Sat. Nov. 10.
The men, who are ranked 13th in the Northeast bracket, will start competition at 2:30 p.m. They will race amongst other top-ranked squads including Iona (1), Providence (2), Syracuse (3), Cornell (4) and Columbia (5).
The Eagles turned in a 10th place finish at last year's regional championship. Senior captain Patrick Mellea ran the course in 31:36.8, qualifying him for the NCAA Championship.
The women enter Saturday's race as the reigning Northeast Region Champions. Five Eagles were named to the NCAA Northeast Regional Team after last year's performance.
Currently the women are ranked second in the Northeast bracket and 24th in the nation. Competition will begin at 3:30 p.m. and includes 15 other ranked teams.
The NCAA Championships will be held on Nov.19 in Terre Haute, Ind., with competition beginning at noon, EST.
