
No. 12 Field Hockey Takes On Virginia in ACC Tournament

Greensboro, N.C. - Fourth-seeded Boston College will face Virginia, the fifth seed, in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Newton Campus Turf Field. The Eagles and the Cavaliers both posted a 1-4 record in ACC matchups, but the Eagles received the higher seed because of a lower goal difference in conference games.
The Eagles have a 4-4 all-time record against the Cavaliers. BC beat UVA in the teams' first meeting, 2-1, on Sept. 22. Junior forward Kathleen Murphy netted the tying goal in the first half and freshman forward Janna Anctil scored the gamewinner on a dish from junior forward Bob Dirks in the 46th minute of play.
Boston College and Virginia will play the first game of the ACC Tournament, followed by third-seeded Wake Forest taking on sixth-seeded Duke at 4 p.m. Undefeated North Caroline received the number one seed and will play the winner of the BC-UVA matchup at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2. Defending national champions Maryland, the two seed, will play the winner of the Wake Forest-Duke game at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The championship will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. The first four games will be available by live webcast at ACC Select. and the championship game will be televised regionally on FSN South, Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic and New England Sports Network.
