Women's Soccer To Host No. 3 Virginia on Sunday

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The No. 14/16 Boston College women's soccer team will host No. 3 Virginia on Sunday, October 28 (1 p.m.) in the final home match of the 2007 season. The Eagles are currently 2-3-2 in the ACC and 9-3-3 overall. Virginia is now 5-0-3 in the conference and 11-1-3 overall.
In the last meeting between the two teams the Eagles defeated the Cavaliers, 1-0, in Charlottesville. Then freshman Gina DiMartino scored at 14:11 in the game and Sarah Buonomo had five saves in the win. The Eagles also defeated Virginia, 1-0, in 2005.
Senior Day
Prior to the BC-Virginia game, the Boston College women's soccer program will honor the 2007 senior class - Kia McNeill and Kelly McGrane. Both players are four-year members of the team.
Team Notes
Junior goalkeeper Sarah Buonomo is third in the nation in GAA (0.391) and third in the nation in save percentage (0.898). Buonomo also earned her eighth shutout of the season last week vs. NC State. She now has 15 career shutouts ... The team is also ranked third in the country in GAA (0.379) and third in save percentage (0.902) ... Freshman Brooke Knowlton had two goals in the Eagles 4-0 victory over NC State last Sunday. Knowlton leads the team in goals scored (5) and points (10).
