Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team, coming off a season that saw one of the biggest upsets in program history, announced its 2008 campaign this week.
The team, which upset the then-defending ACC Champion NC State in the first round of the 2007 ACC tournament, will travel to three separate tournaments to open its schedule, starting on Feb. 15.
The first tournament will be held in Greenville, N.C. The team will continue traveling to Fort Myers, Fla., for an invitational hosted by Florida Gulf Coast and then to Santa Clara, Calif., from Feb. 29 to March 2.
The Eagles' home opener comes on March 25 when they play a double header against St. Peter's. They play in a double header again at the Heights on March 26 versus Holy Cross.
Defending ACC Champion Virginia Tech visits Boston College on April 12 and 13 for a three-game series. BC continues regular season action until May 3 and 4 when they host Maryland to wrap up the 2008 schedule.
The Eagles named seniors Carley McNary (center field), Amanda Booth (outfield) and Angela Pandolfo (utility) as the team's captains for the upcoming season. The team returns seven other letter winners and welcomes eight newcomers.
