
Women's Tennis Sophomore Earns Top Five Finish

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College sophomore Dasha Cherkasov earned a third place tie, along with Adrienne Elsberry of Georgia and Gina Sabatino of Miami (Fla.), in the East region of this summer's ITA Summer Circuit.
The ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit presented by the USTA was played at 23 regional sites throughout the country during the month of July. It is made up of six regional circuits (East, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Southwest and West) and each region consists of four consecutive tournaments played during the month of July, leading up to the ITA National Summer Championships in August. Players accumulate points based on their performance and advancement in a given tournament. A record 2,624 players participated in 2006.
Cherkasov led the Eagles during the 2005-2006 season with an overall record of 22-13 playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles and doubles positions in the team's first year in the ACC.
