Jenny Maurer Named To 2006 Nordic Cup Roster

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Boston College senior midfielder Jenny Maurer was named to the US women's Under-21 National Team 18-player squad that will travel to the 16th Annual Nordic Cup in and around Stavanger, Norway. Maurer will be a senior captain on the Boston College women's soccer team in the fall.
Maurer, a native of East Longmeadow, MA, led Boston College in points (10) and assists (6) last season. The Eagles team captain earned a first-team NEWISA honor and was named to the second-team for Soccer Buzz Magazine Northeast team in 2005. She was also named to the All-ACC Academic team.
This is Maurer's first US Soccer and international experience. The Nordic Cup is held in northern Europe every summer. The Cup is the top competition in the world for U-21 women. The USA has won eight Nordic Cup titles.
The US team, who is coached by Jillian Ellis, will train on the east coast for a few days before leaving on July 11 for Norway. The team will begin play against Denmark on Sunday, July 16 in Randaberg. The second match of the competition will take place on Tuesday, July 18 in Algard against Iceland. On Thursday, July 20, the US will meet host Norway in Sandnes. The placement matches will be played on Saturday, July 22.
