Nancy Darsch Joins Women's Basketball Staff

Former WNBA head coach and Ohio State head coach Nancy Darsch has joined the Boston College Women's Basketball program as an assistant coach, as announced by Boston College head women's basketball coach Cathy Inglese. Darsch was recently an assistant coach for the Minnesota Lynx (WNBA).
"We are extremely excited to have Nancy join the Boston College women's basketball program. Her experience on professional, college and international levels will be a tremendous benefit," said Boston College head coach Cathy Inglese. "Nancy is comfortable with our program having worked with the players and staff last fall. Her experience and familiarity with BC will make an immediate impact."
Darsch arrives at Boston College after coaching women's basketball at both the professional and Division 1 college levels. Prior to working as an assistant with the Minnesota Lynx, Darsch was an advanced scout for the Washington Mystics for three seasons. Her head coach experience in the WNBA includes leading the New York Liberty in the inaugural season of the WNBA to a 17-11 record. In two seasons with the Liberty, Darsch helped her team advance to the WNBA Inaugural Championship game in 1997. She compiled a 36-24 record. Darsch took over the reigns for the Washington Mystics in 1999. After two seasons at the helm, Darsch became an advanced scout for the team. For the past three seasons, she has been with the Minnesota Lynx as an assistant coach. Darsch's overall head coaching record in the WNBA is 57-57.
Prior to her WNBA experience, Darsch was the head coach at Ohio State University for 12 seasons. She compiled a record of 234-125 (.652) while at Ohio State. Darsch led the Buckeyes to four Big Ten Conference Championships and seven NCAA appearances. In 1993, Darsch led Ohio State to an impressive 24-4 record, a Big Ten Championship and the NCAA final. Before her arrival at Ohio State, Darsch was an assistant coach at Tennessee for seven seasons under head coach Pat Summitt.
Darsh has also been involved with US Basketball since 1984. She has won two Olympic gold medals as an assistant coach for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 1996 Olympic Games in Georgia.
A native of Plymouth, MA, Darsch is a 1973 graduate of Springfield College. She earned her master's degree in physical education from the University of Tennessee.
