Softball Drops 4-1 Decision to Central Florida

Altamonte Springs, Fla. - The Boston College softball team (4-6) fell 4-1 to Central Florida in the first game of a double-header with UCF and St. John's. Jenna Macchi scored the Eagles' lone run in the fifth inning.
Central Florida took the early lead in the second inning when Michelle Newton scored an unearned run on an error. They went up by two at the top of the third inning when Amber Lamb singled to centerfield, driving in Alvarez.
In the fifth inning UCF scored its third run when Lamb singled to right field, scoring Alvarez. Macchi's ground out to shortstop in the bottom of the fifth, drove in Carley McNary.
In the seventh inning, Alvarez stole home to give Central Florida its fourth run of the game.
Freshman Savana Lloyd pitched all seven innings, striking out two batters. She allowed three earned runs on eight hits.
The Eagles play St. John's at 5:00 p.m. in the second game of their double-header on March 7.
