COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Maryland's Shay Doron scored 22 points and Crystal Langhorne added 16 , as the fourth-ranked Terrapins cruised to an 86-59 home win over No. 18 Boston College on Thursday, snapping the Eagles' seven-game winning streak.
Laura Harper added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Marissa Coleman had 15 rebounds for the Terps (23-3, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) in their third straight game against a ranked opponent. Maryland improved to 5-3 against such teams this season, giving the Terps their most wins over Top 25 foes in a single year since 1992-93.
Aja Parham scored a team-high 15 points for BC (19-7, 6-5 ACC), which led the ACC in scoring defense by allowing 55.4 points per game entering the contest. Kathrin Ress contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds for BC, as the Eagles allowed a season-high for points. Their previously high was 82 against Miami.
Maryland stretched that defense early with quality shooting both inside and outside. The Terps scored the first 11 points of the game and slowly added to their lead on their way to a 42-23 halftime lead.
The Terrapins followed with a 13-0 run in the first 3 minutes, 18 seconds of the second half to build a 55-23 advantage they would not lose. Harper keyed the surge with six points. Doron responded well after shooting 2-for-12 against No. 1 Duke on Monday. She made 9 of 16 shots Thursday in helping Maryland hand BC its worst defeat since March 5, 2002, a 96-54 loss to Connecticut.
