Women's Basketball Announces New Recruits

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College women's basketball team received six national letters of intent from its 2007-2008 class of recruits, as announced by head coach Cathy Inglese. The Boston College 2007-08 recruiting class is ranked 15th by Blue Star Basketball.
"I am really excited about the six incoming players. They will mix well with the young talent already at Boston College,'' said BC Head Coach Cathy Inglese. "It's a good corps of players that will make a positive and immediate impact on the program.''
Stefanie Murphy 6-3 Center/Forward Londonderry Sr. High/Londonderry, NH
Street & Smith Honorable Mention ... Ranked in Blue Star Basketball's Top 75 ... 2005-06 Gatorade Player of the Year in New Hampshire ... Averaged 18 points a game and led Londonderry to a state title.
Jaclyn Thoman 5-9 Guard Highland Ranch H.S./Highland Ranch, CO
2005-06 Gatorade Player of the Year in Colorado ... Miss Basketball Player of the Year ... Ranked in the Blue Star Basketball's Top 100.
Carolyn Swords 6-5 Center Lincoln-Sudbury H.S./Sudbury, Mass.
2006 Herald All-Scholastics ... 2006 Boston Globe Super Team ... 2006 Dual County League MVP ... 2005, 2006 MetroWest All-Star ... Averaged 14.3 points and 10 rebounds a game.
Lauren Whitehurst 6-1 Forward Indian River H.S./Chesapeake, VA
First-team All-District ... Athletic ... Loves to run the floor and is a shot blocker.
Veronica Wilson 6-2 Forward Pickerington Central/Pickerington, Ohio
Led Pickerington Central (24-3) to the Ohio State Semifinals ... Averaged 16 points and seven rebounds a game ... All-Ohio Div. 1 first-team ... All-Central District second-team ... Scorer and solid passer.
LaShaunda Pratt 5-7 Guard Carver High School/Winston-Salem, N.C.
Piedmont Triad 3-A All-Conference in 2006, 2005, 2004 ... All-Star Girls Report Top 150 List ... MVP of Mary Garber Tournament in 2005 ... Three-time All-Tournament team ... All-Northwest North Carolina, 2005.
"We have enhanced our inside game with two of the best post players in the Northeast in Stefanie Murphy and Carolyn Swords. We add athleticism and versatility at the forward spot with both Lauren Whitehurst and Veronica Wilson. All four will fit into our system,'' said Inglese.
On the incoming guards, Inglese said, "Jaclyn Thoman is a scoring point guard who will excite the BC fans for the next four years. LaShaunda Pratt will add more speed and quickness to our backcourt and give us more defensive presence on the perimeter.''
