Women's Basketball Earns A Win In Exhibition Game

Senior Kathrin Ress scored 19 points and hauled in 12 rebounds while freshman Elisabeth Egnell added 17 points to lead Boston College past Athletes in Action, 80-67, in an exhibition game at Conte Forum Tuesday night.
The Eagles will open the regular season on Sunday, November 12 at 2 p.m. against Sacred Heart.
With the game tied at 47-47, the Eagles put together an 11-1 run midway through the second half to put AIA away. Egnell and Ress combined for nine of the 11 points. The Eagles shot a sizzling 64 percent from the field in the half and pressured AIA into 10 turnovers (22 in the game).
Other Eagles in double figures included freshman Ayla Brown with 13 points and seven rebounds and junior Laura Lokitis had 11 points, two steals and two assists. Senior Sarah Marshall finished with four points, 11 assists and four steals.
In the first half, Boston College shot out to a 17-8 lead behind an eight point run that started with a layup by junior transfer Kaydia Kentish at 16:15. The run ended when Brown connected with Egnell for an easy bucket at 11:55.
The teams exchanged hoops but the Eagles put together another run later in the first half that was sparked by Brown. She scored four points in an 8-2 run that gave the Eagles a 10 point lead with just under five minutes to play in the half.
The Eagles led at the half 32-25 with Ress and Brown combining for 21 points. Boston College shot 48 percent from the field but was out-rebounded 21-15 in the half.
Katie Voigt led Athletes in Action with 25 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Crystal Coston added 17 points.
