Chestnut Hill, Mass.--Freshman goalie Molly Schaus (Natick, Mass.) received Mission Rookie of the Month for October as announced by Hockey East on Wednesday. Schaus produced a 4-1-1 record during the first full month of the 2006-07 season, and compiled a 1.49 GAA and .942 save percentage in six games.
The rookie's GAA and save percentage both rank second in the league. Schaus won three straight games against Rensselaer, Quinnipiac and Maine to open the season and then stopped 29 shots in a 2-2 overtime tie against ninth-ranked Princeton. She stopped another 29 shots the next day in 10th-ranked Boston College's 3-1 win over the Yale Bulldogs.
Schaus' only loss came last Friday night against a tough second-ranked UNH squad who tied a 1-0 game with 5:43 remaining in regulation and scored the game-winning goal shortly thereafter. Schaus made 33 saves in that affair.
The Eagles face the Wildcats for the second time in a week tonight at Conte Forum at 7:00 p.m. Boston College hosts Boston University at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
