Chestnut Hill, Mass.--Senior back Lauren Parks (Norwood, Mass.) was named a 2006 Division I Senior All-Star as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Monday morning. As an all-star, the senior captain of the sixth-ranked Boston College field hockey team will participate in the 2006 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game as part of the North Team.
Parks has led sixth-ranked Boston College field hockey to a 14-3 overall record, 2-2 against ACC teams, and the program's highest ranking ever of fourth earlier this season. This season she has tallied a career-high 12 points, including five goals and two assists. Parks has played and started in 16 games for the Eagles in 2006, and has become an integral part of the penalty corner team. She has anchored a defense that has shut out opponents six times this year, including ACC foe Virginia at home on September 22.
As a junior, Parks started in all 20 games, scored three goals, and played throughout the Eagles' appearances in the ACC and NCAA tournaments. She became a starter during her sophomore season, a campaign in which she played in 16 games while starting in 11 of them.
Prior to coming to Boston College, Parks was a four-time letter winner at Norwood High School and a three-time Bay State League All-Star.
Thirty-eight seniors, all of whom have exhausted their athletic eligibility after this year, were selected as all-stars. Eight all-stars come from an ACC team. The all-star game will be played on Saturday, November 18 on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
