Chestnut Hill, Mass.--The Boston College women's lacrosse team finalized its spring schedule which will begin on February 24 against the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. at noon. The Eagles finished 2006 with an 8-9 overall record and 1-4 conference record in their inaugural season in the ACC.
"We have a challenging 2007 season ahead of us as we enter our 2nd year in the ACC," head coach Bowen Holden admits. "Six of the final top 10 teams from last season are on our schedule, including two who landed a spot in the NCAA final four. Our goal is to improve on the season we had in 2006 as we continue to compete with the top teams in the country and build Boston College into one of the elite. I look forward to seeing what the 2007 Eagles put on the field and the job our captains do in leading this team towards greater success."
After the Eagles play a rematch of last year's ACC first round in College Park to begin the season, they return home to host local foes from Fairfield University and Harvard. Boston College next embarks on a four-game road trip from March 7-21 to play Yale, Holy Cross, ACC member Virginia Tech, and Vermont from the America East.
On March 25, the Eagles take on the Massachusetts Minutewomen in Newton and then travel down the road later that week to Nickerson Field for a cross-town tilt with the Boston University Terriers. The Eagles hope to fool the Tar Heels on April 1st in Chapel Hill, N.C. before they return home to face Marist College on April 7.
Boston College close out play before the ACC Tournament with a trip to Storrs to play UConn and a pair of home games against ACC powerhouses Duke and Virginia. The ACC Tournament will take place Thursday, April 26 to Sunday, April 29 on the UNC campus in Chapel Hill.
The Eagles return to New England to play the Dartmouth Big Green on May 2. Boston College will honor its seniors and alumnae on Saturday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. before the last game of the season against Brown.
