CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College women's soccer team, ranked 24th by the NSCAA, will take its final regular season road trip this weekend. The No. 24 Eagles will head to Charlottesville, VA to play at Klockner Stadium against No. 12 Virginia on Friday, October 20 at 7 p.m. Boston College will then head to Blacksburg, VA, to play Virginia Tech on Sunday, October 22 at 1 p.m.
BC AGAINST VIRGINIA
The Eagles are 1-0-1 vs. Virginia (9-4-2, 4-2-1 ACC). This is the first time Boston College will play in Charlottesville. In the first meeting between the Eagles and Cavaliers, Boston College won 1-0 on its home turf. Jenny Maurer scored the game-winning goal just 1:54 into the game. Virginia has won its last two ACC matches: Oct. 8 vs. Clemson, 1-0; Oct. 12 vs. Virginia Tech, 2-1.
BC AGAINST VIRGINIA TECH
The Eagles have a little more history vs. Virginia Tech (5-8-2, 1-6-1 ACC) as they lead the head-to-head series, 3-0-1. Last season the two teams battle to a 0-0 double-overtime game. In 2003, the Eagles defeated the Hokies, 1-0. The Hokies have hit a rough patch as they have not won a game since September 28 in a 2-1 victory over Miami. They did tie Clemson in double-overtime on October 5. The Hokies have lost the last two games vs. NC State and Virginia by the same 2-1 score.
THE EAGLES
The Eagles enter Friday's game vs. Virginia with a 9-5-1 record, 3-3-1 in the ACC, following a big 3-0 win over NC State on Sunday. Freshman Gina DiMartino had a goal and an assist, while Caitlin Burke notched two assists. Senior defender Laura Georges scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick. Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Buonomo earned her fourth shutout of the season and is now 4-3-1.
